2019 Presidential election: Court dismiss suit which challenged President Muhammadu Buhari’s educational qualification


The Appeal court sitting in Abuja on Friday, dismissed the appeal which was challenging the educational qualification of President Muhammadu Buhari’s stand to contest for President.

Justice Muhammed Idris, who led the judgement upheld the judgement which was earlier delivered by the Federal High Court in Abuja which had ruled out the suit on the ground that it was statute barred and robbed the Court of its jurisdiction to establish the suit.

The Court (Appeal Court), also ruled that the suit was statute barred, the suit which have not been filed at the trial court within 14 days of the cause of action, arose as it was explained in section 289(5) in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
