Budget: Buhari signs 2019 budget after raising critical issues

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari had on Monday signed the 2019 budget despite raising critical issues, the budget is said to worth 8.9 trillion naira¬†

The President had submitted the budget to the Nigerian Senate, April 30 2019, as at then the budget was 8.8 trillion naira and was later increased by the lawmakers with about 10 billion naira to make it above the stated amount.

Those present at the signing of the budget were the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, speaker House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.

The budget which was signed at the mini conference hall also had the presence of, secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha and Chief of staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.

Ministers present were, Minister of information and culture, Lai Muhammed, Minister of finance, Zainab Ahmed, Minister of budget and national planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma. The chairman senate committee on appropriation, Senator Danjuma Goje.

Others are the senior special adviser to Buhari on National Assembly matters, senator Ita Enang and also special adviser to Buhari on National Assembly matters House of Representatives, Umar El-Yakub were also present.

In the President’s statement he said he signed the bill because he does not want to slow down the pace of the Country’s economy.

Buhari said he would send a supplementary and/or amendment budget to the National Assembly to look into the critical issues he raised.
