Details of Buhari’s meeting with the Governors
President Muhammadu Buhari, has met with all state governors and security chiefs on Friday, in Aso Rock
Buhari at the meeting with the Governors, received reports on the recommendation of local and state government police.
The Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum and the Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi who spoke with state house correspondents said issues surrounding the creation of state police was discussed at the meeting.
While speaking on the creation of state police, the NGF chairman said that, positions have not been taken by the governors on the proposal of state and local government police.
He said that while some governors have disclosed support for the creation of state and local government police, some are still battling with the payment of existing workers salaries.
He explained that, a comprehensive National Economic Council will be set up to look into the security challenges.
In his words “As security officers of their states, Governors briefed the President of situations in their domain.
“We are ready to join forces with the President to end security challenges in the country”.
Fayemi said the $1 billion dollars from the excess crude account, have not been spent on securing the nation, by the security agencies.
