EFCC boss speaks on Naira Marley’s arrest

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission. Ibrahim Magu has finally broken the silence concerning Naira Marley’s arrest, he said the anti-graft agency is not after musicians and entertainers

This was disclosed during an interactive section with On Air Personalities (OAPs), Artists, Comedians, in the commissions headquarters in Jabi, Abuja yesterday.

He stated that the man reason for the interactive session is to address theĀ  impression that the EFCC is after musicians.

Magu also spoke on the ordeal of Azeez Fashola known as Naira Marley, who was arrested for alleged advance fee scam and other related cyber crime offences, he was arrested alongside Abdulrahman Kayode known as Rahman Jago,Zlatan Ibile and two others, on the 10th day of May 2019.

Naira Marley is currently facing 11 count charges, wish was issued by the EFCC, for alleged credit card fraud.

In his words “Let me use this opportunity to emphasize that we have no issue with any member of this very important sector of the country.

“I said it in the past and I am restating it again, that the EFCC does not go after any innocent person. Our mission is to rid Nigeria of any economic and financial crime and internet fraud is not excluded.

“There is always intelligent report that our officers investigate before effecting a warrant of arrest, and we don’t arrest innocent people.

Magu had earlier set up a task team to get rid of all internet fraudsters in the country, this is the reason for the increased arrest of internet fraudsters across the country.
