EFCC parades 37 suspected internet fraudsters in Owerri

The Economic Financial and Crimes Commission has arrested 37 Persons suspected to be internet fraudsters in Imo Owerri

Thirty seven persons suspected to have involved in internet fraud have been said to have been uncovered by the Economic Financial and Crime Commission (EFCC)  South-east zonal office.

The arrest was followed by a raid on some residence in Owerri, followed by intelligence reports that the suspects were living lavish lifestyle without any known source of income.

Report gathered by the EFCC stated that the suspects defraud unsuspecting victims via the internet.

Siezed items include 25 exotic cars, laptops, expensive mobile phones.

Statement by the EFCC on Friday was that the raid was a part of it’s  mandate.

The EFCC blamed the increase in Cyber crime as a result of erosion and breakdown of values in the Society.

The anti – graft agency stated that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation on the matter was concluded.
