I prefer to die than loosing any corps member – NYSC new DG
The newly appointed Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim,has said that he would prefer to loose his life, than loosing any corps member during the service year
He made this statement during a visit to workers and corps members on Wednesday in Akure, Ondo state.
He categorized all the corps members as his own ‘children’.
Ibrahim said he wants to rejig the skill acquisition program, that they had partners that would lend money to the corps members.
In his words “I prefer to die than loosing any corps member. Keep yourself abreast of what Is happening in your country and make a difference as a corps member.
“I want to rejig our skill acquisition program, if you take it seriously, we have partners that are ready to lend you money. I am very passionate about the scheme and our corps members.
“I came for a youth program and I decided to visit you my children, what will you be remembered for when you leave this place? Try as much as possible to keep your records clean.
He described the visit as an unofficial visit, he said that he would look for away that the scheme would not fully depend on government for funds.
Mrs Grace Akpabio, the state coordinator has earlier described the visit as an homecoming.
The coordinator, also said that the government of Ondo state has also been helping to develop the scheme. Especially in the building of a parameter fence in the permanent orientation camp in Ikare Akoko.
She used the visit as a medium to reel out some achievements to the DG, especially the reactivation of the farm in Ita Ogbolu, to teach corps members who are interested in farming.
