I would not let Nigeria down  – Buhari

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari. had on Monday in Abuja gave assurances on Nigeria’s security, promising to not let the country down

This was disclosed by the President, while speaking with members of the Northern Governors Forum (NGF) which was led by the outgoing chairman, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state, at the state house, Abuja.

In his words President Buhari said ” The security of the country is on my mind 24 hours of the day. I get daily and weekly situation reports, I have listened to your brief. I will look into your recommendations, I am acutely aware of your situations, I have learnt more today”.

The President expressed deep grief, the effect caused by the unchecked corruption by the past Armed Forces.

He said “The terrible effect of mismanagement were prevalent, and these are the consequences.

“If you follow the effort we are making within the system, you will see that we have curbed much of the corruption. See the memories we have made:- money, landed property. We are not going as fast as fast as we want under the system, we will try to improve it”.

President Buhari, promised to increase his meetings with security chiefs to get himself updated.

He also expressed interest in hearing from governors who have difficulties in relating with the security heads of their states.

Mean while, the governors while speaking drew the President’s attention to challenges they face in their various states.

They appreciated the efforts of the Federal Government in curbing of terrorism such as, Boko Haram and Farmers/herders clashes saying that the situation has been dealt with.

 

The governors also warmed that armed banditry were posing threat and need to be dealt with.
