June 12: FG declares Wednesday 12th June as public holiday

The Federal Government of Nigeria, has declared Wednesday June 12 as a work free day, this is according to law that June 12 should be celebrated as Democracy day in Nigeria 

This was disclosed by the Permanent secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Barr Georgina Ekeoma Ekhuria, who congratulated Nigerians both home and abroad for the entrenchment of democratic rule in the country.

A statement which was issued on Monday by the Press and Public Relations Director, for the Ministry of Interior, Muhammad Manga said that the Permanent secretary had advised all Nigerians to cherish all the sacrifices which was made by heroes of democracy, most particularly those whose lives were lost in the fight for the actualization of democratic governance in Nigeria in order to make the country a better place for all.

The permanent secretary further called on Nigerians to collaborate and cooperate with the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, towards the achievement of our aspiration for the unity, peace and socio-economic development of Nigeria, and wished all Nigerians both home and abroad a happy democracy day celebration.
