Just In: Courts orders reopening of AIT and Raypower radio
An Abuja High Court has ordered the reopening of the African Independent Television (AIT), and Raypower radio both under DAAR group plc, which was closed on Thursday by the National Broadcasting Commission closed on Thursday by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC)
The Director General of the NBC, Modibbo Kawu made it known to the public on Thursday in Abuja, while speaking with journalists.
He said that the reasons for the closure includes,; the airing of presidential documentary by the AIT, a matter pending at a tribunal, the lack of capacity to pay it’s fees, divisive and inciting content from the social media.
Meanwhile, a federal high court in Abuja has ordered the reopening of the station.
In his ruling, Justice Ekwo Inyang, had directed both parties involved in the case, should maintain both status as the matter was filed on 31st May.
The case was thereby adjourned till 13th June by the Presiding judge, for the defendant to show reasons why the order should not be granted.
