Just In: Senate shocked Ekweremadu over nomination of Deputy Senate President

The former Senate President of the 8th Assembly, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has been nominated for the position of Deputy Senate President 

Meanwhile, the nomination has been a surprise to many Nigerian’s.

Ekweremadu was nominated by new Senator Elect, Chukwuka Utazi, for Ekweremadu to retain his seat as Deputy Senate President in the 9th Assembly, the nomination was backed by, Senator Elect representing Cross River North, Rose Okoh, both are of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Senator Representing Enugu North, had however expected the nomination, but vowed to work with the newly elected Senate President, Ahmed Lawan.

This was as, the Senator Elect for Delta Central, Ovie Omo-Agege, was nominated by the current ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

Ahmed Baba Kaita, the Senator Elect for Kastina North supported the nomination of Omo-Agege, it was backed by Abdullahi Aliyu Sabi, the Senator Elect for Niger North.

Utazi said that the nomination of Ekweremadu would restore the sanctity of the Senate chamber which was lost about 8 months ago.
