Lawyer Femi Falana mocks APC over Atiku’s nationality

Legal practitioner, Femi Falana has mocked the ruling All Progressive Congress position over the nationality of former Nigeria’s Vice President

Falana who spoke at a press conference during the weekend at the Premium Times Centre for investigative Journalism (PTCIJ)

The re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari which is being contested by Atiku Abubakar and the people’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The APC told the Presidential election tribunal in April that the People’s Democratic Party candidate was a Cameroonian and not a Nigerian.

Against the backdrop, the All Progressive Congress has insisted that the Wazirin Adamawa was not qualified to contest for the just concluded Presidential election in the country.

Atiku was said to have been given birth to in 1946 in Jada near Adamawa.

Falana who reacted to the argument by the APC, said that it was an indictment on them for insisting that Atiku is not a Nigerian but a Cameroonian.

According to Falana, he admitted that those who voted for President Muhammadu Buhari in Atiku’s ward are also from Cameroon as well.

“If Atiku is a Cameroonian doesn’t that mean that those who voted for President Muhammadu Buhari are also from Cameroon as well?” he asked.

Falana also said that the recent killings in some parts of the country are signs of anarchy.

In his words “The recent incidents currently witnessed by the country in terms of violence, banditry and insurgency is a sign of anarchy”, he said.

“Since the just concluded 2019 elections the duty of the media is to ensure that all political parties and their elected officials are held accountable”.

In conclusion he added that all citizens either by birth or naturalization, refugees, asylum seekers are entitled to adequate security.
