VP Osinbajo meets Gbajambiamila and discuss on how to move the country forward

Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, had on Monday met with the new Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajambiamila, in a closed door meeting at the presidential villa Abuja. 

Gbajambiamila who spoke with journalists after the closed door meeting, said they discussed on how the executive and legislative branch of government can collaborate, in order to make life better for Nigerians.

He also said that the 9th House of Representatives, is going to be a reformed House, that it will be dishing out this reforms in a piece-mill, so as not to shutdown the system.

The speaker said the meeting centered on charting a roadmap, on how to tackle the problems facing the nation.

In his words “Those were the issues we discussed, it was not a personal visit, but you can call it a hybrid between personal and official, but mostly official addressing the issues of the problem.

“we discussed on how the executive and legislature can collaborate to make life better for Nigeria and Nigerians.

“Committees will be unfolded in the next few weeks and you will see how we intend to carry the opposition along, I am not letting anything out of the bag, but you can be sure that they will be carried along.

“You heard my inaugural speech, we are going to be doing things differently, we are going to build on whatever the achievement are of the 8th Assembly.

“It is going to be a reformed House, the reforms are going to be dished out in a piece-mill so as not to shut the system.

In conclusion he said “But there will be reforms that will be for benefit of the country, we will see how it goes”.

He said the 9th Assembly expected that all the arms of government be carried along, including the executive, media (journalists) and their constituents.

Gbajambiamila emerged the speaker after defeating Umar Bago, both members of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
