What I will do concerning Nigeria’s budget – Lawan
Newly elected Senate President of the 9th Assembly, Senator Ahmed Lawan, has revealed what he will do concerning Nigeria’s annual appropriation bill
According to Lawan he said the Nigeria’s annual appropriation bill will be passed every three months under his leadership.
While speaking with journalists after a special juma prayer on Friday at the State House Abuja, he said that, to achieve this, the executive and legislative branch of government must work together
He said that if the appropriation bill is presented by ending of September or early October, it would be passed before December break.
According to him he said a month would be set aside for budget defence by MDA’s, warning that no delay would be tolerated from government parastatals.
In the meantime, the 9th Senate has agreed to write an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, in order to inform him that a quorum of the Senate has assembled and that it’s presiding officers have been elected.
The upper chamber (the Senate), also resolved to inform the international parliamentary bodies that a quorum of the 9th senate has assembled and it was ready to receive any communication.
